The exterior is a modern design clad with rectangular panels of varying widths and heights, executed in a variety of materials—the highest and most striking of which is the highly textured portion covered in Crossville porcelain tile.
The focal point of the AVTEC Dormitory is designed around the public spaces of the building, which include the main entry, arctic vestibule connection to the existing cafeteria and culinary academy, dorm offices, student lounges, and recreation rooms.

Visually unobtrusive Feeney Inc's 3/16-inch CableRail stainless steel railing assemblies with custom fittings were used in the railing design to enhance the architectural styling and protect views of the river and city for cyclists and pedestrians on the bridge.
